i'm with THE BAND

Pencil & Digital Couring


So this little illo was done specially for a friend I used to work with
who, if he were a picture, would be a musical note.
He also had a fondness for lurking around whenever I was
reading (and I use the term 'reading' very loosely!) Vogue Paris.
Nothing to do with the models i'm sure.
His fiancee and I came up with this idea and I hear it went over pretty well!
I went for a bit of a Kate Moss/Brigitte Bardot vibe
to come up with the epitome of a gorgeous French groupie.



It will also be apart of something pretty fun that i'm involved with.
All will be revealed very soon I hope!

First things first, Cole and I bought tickets to see She & Him in concert! I can't believe that they added more tour dates and are coming to my home town. Woohoo Royal Oak Music Theatre!
It's no secret that I love classic, rugged, preppy pieces. While L.L.Bean is my go to for duck boots, boat totes, and rain gear- their new Signature collection blows my mind. Such a perfect modern spin on their staple looks.

I was a huge fan of Aimee when I was a little girl and she was still in the new wave band 'Til Tuesday. I rediscovered my love of her amazing talent during my college days, with the movie Magnolia.

Don't you love those moments when you hear a song for the first time in years and your heart leaps with joy because you had forgotten how much you loved said song! Well that's what happened to me last week when I was watching The Office. This Travis song makes my heart sing. ;)

It's been awhile since I've written a music post, but I thought it was time to share with you one of my favorites. The Cure is another band that I grew up listening to thanks to my parents and their love of 80's music. It's weird how, year after year, I never get sick of them.

And the Beat Goes On: Willy Mason

Cole and I first heard Willy Mason in Boston in 2006, when he opened for one of my fave singers, Sondre Lerche. We were immediately in awe of his talent. I love his deep, scratchy voice and folksy beats. Plus, he's from Martha's Vineyard and I always feel that anyone who grew up on an island must be cool. ;)
