I am so very excited! The charming and fantastically talented Mary P., of Pretty Good Things, is sweet enough to offer you, my dear readers, the chance to win your very own Le Teeny Beret! Having the difficult task of picking an item for you, I couldn't resist the charm of Le Teeny Beret. Berets are fabulous, but in miniature proportions, Oh My, I fell in love.
Mary P. is one of those rare creatures who has talent oozing out of her fingertips and who also has the unique fortune to be a milliner- a word that conjures up images of lovely, long forgotten vintage hats.

Read the following interview for a deeper insight into Mary P.'s creative mind:
How would you describe your sense of style?
My personal sense of style is feminine and casual, colorful, comfortable and playful. This is a bit difficult for me to answer because I've never really been asked before! Like a lot of people, I like to combine new with thrift store purchases. Working at home I am usually in jeans and a t-shirt but when I do go out and get fancy it's a must that I incorporate a hat.
What inspired you to become a milliner?
For me the most fulfilling thing about making head accessories is that it enables me to combine sculpture, fashion, crafting, and drawing into one great package. Millinery makes me feel more connected to my artist self than designing a pretty dress...maybe it's the scale of a hat that I am drawn to or the endless amount of things you could put on a hat...or the fact that hats can become frivolous (in a good way) objects with a purpose to decorate or delight that connects with me. Headpieces can border silly and chic at the same time or unassuming or bold and I love that wide variety that comes with hats and head pieces. They can transform an outfit or change how you feel or act. One moment you're just 'jeans, a blouse and maybe some snazzy shoes', but put a certain hat or tie a head wrap on and you've just created 'fancy pants you' or 'a secret agent spy'. Hats complete a look.
Where do you get the inspiration for your unique and stunning designs?
Aw, shucks. Thanks for your kind words! The hats in my "Thesis Collection" were designed to tell a narrative. I imagined that it follows a girl through her personal odyssey. Other designs evolve from the materials and tinkering with them. Without sounding crazy, sometimes fabric just tells you what it wants to be. Other times I see a found object such as a dried lotus seed pod or the baby fawn on the Oh Deer Fascinator and I think - that would be great on top of a head - now how do I do that? Also, I believe miniature objects (a la the Le Teeny Beret) are almost better than the regular sized object (though I do love the normal sized berets as well). I am inspired by other designers work such as the big guys out there, Philip Treacy and Stephen Jones. Those dudes can defy gravity and make some beautiful head art!
What’s one random fact that you would like people to know about you?
I love the word compartment and I really dislike the word congrats. To me congratulations in its entirety is totally better than its weird cousin.
The rules to Enter the Giveaway are very simple:
