sneaky PEEK

Sorry for the lack of updates of late!
I know I promised i'd be a little more on the ball,
but i'm finding it a bit hard at the mo.
I've been working on a really fun job over the last two weeks
and should hopefully have it wound up by the end of this week!
I've posted a little sneak peek for you guys.
Nothing too exciting but just something to share until I can reveal
the big finish in the coming weeks!
    Can't WAIT.

    I hope you're all well.
Thanks again for all of your comments, I do read all of them!
If you want to keep updated, I try to post every day or so
on my facebook page, so feel free to join me there!
It's alot easier for me to update than my blog.

ooo baby I LIKE YOUR STYLE

NW Magazine asked me to answer a few style questions
    as part of their relaunch.
    So here they are:

What is the most worn item of clothing in your wardrobe?

I have worn this black Country Road basics dress of mine
about a MILLION times in the 2 years since I bought it.
I'm not one to have a closet full of clothes, I like to mix and match
accessories with basic outfits. So I have alot of bags, shoes, and jewellery.

It’s Oscar night and you can be dressed by any designer, who would you choose?
Ooo I think I would definitely like some vintage Dior Couture!
    Or Chanel. Anything appropriately Chanel.
But i'm very into Couture on the red carpet!
Bring back the big structured gowns I say - we can't always rely on
Sarah Jessica Parker, Charlize Theron and Marion Cotillard to attend
the Oscars EVERY YEAR so some of these other girls better step it up!

What trend are you tired of?
Grunge! I was never into it.
You can be edgy without looking dirty.

If you could give any celebrity a makeover, who would it be?
Kate Winslet always frustrates me because I absolutely LOVE her
but she always looks about 10 years older on the red carpet.
I know fashion isn't everyone's thing - and I have no problem with that,
but i'm sure she has a stylist, and that stylist should be encouraging her
to dress her own age and have a little fun with it!

Who is your celebrity style icon and why?
Hands down, inside out, Diane Kruger.
I think she probably has the most fun with fashion
out of anyone else in Hollywood.
But she's not afraid to experiment and she doesn't have a stylist!

I also equally ADORE Marion Cotillard.
    She is just a goddess.
A sublimely talented actress who is actually relevant to
the fashion industry and can always be relied upon to bring
a touch of Frenchy chic to any red carpet!

But let it be known that choosing my favourite celebrity style is like
choosing my favourite child (Well, I imagine it would be if I actually had any.)
About 90% of my illustration inspiration comes from celebrity style as it
combines my two great loves, movies and fashion.
To name a couple I love - Sienna Miller, The Olsens, Chloe Sevigny,
Alexa Chung, Gwynnie, Kirsten Dunst and The Kates (Mossy & Bosworth)

For more celebrity style goodness follow these stylin' blogs:

    Enjoy your weekend everybody!

Random Wednesdays

Ha, I'm making a weird face. My sister-in-law bought this hat in Russia years ago on her high school study abroad:

I haven't heard this song in over ten years. It was playing in our favorite Ann Arbor restaurant last night and I suddenly remembered how much I loved it:

Does everyone like that my comments are now in their own pop-up window or did you prefer the embedded comments?

    P.S. Holiday Look #4 tomorrow!

Random Tuesdays

Inspired by an article in Teen Vogue, I decided to try my hand at 80's makeup, but with a more wearable everyday look in mind. I probably need more blush and bigger hair to look truly 80's:

I was tagged by the wonderful Libs, of Not Here to Please You, to find black things in my bedroom. Little did Libs know that my whole room (and apartment) is decorated in black and white, so I'll just show you a few things.

Black headboard, frames, drawings and quilt:

Black and white portrait of my great grandfather as a little boy:

Now, this little bear isn't black, but I had to show him to you. He's a Christmas ornament:

And last, I added a new item to my shop- hand drawn bow tote bag:
    Lulu Letty Bow Tote

Thank so very much for all the lovely comments on yesterday's look!! I'm glad you liked it.

P.S. Holiday Look #2 is tomorrow!!

Random Spookiness

I'm not sure if you've noticed or not, but thanks to the incredibly sweet and patient Giovanna, of Boho Market, I was able to change the blogger favicon (the little icon next to the url) to a bow! I used the same bow from my drawing header and just love how it looks. If anyone wants help adding a favicon, just let me know!
    Bow teeny
So, I do all my photo editing through picnik and they've added a new spooky Halloween editing section. Here're the results:

    Curly Q vamp
    Vampire
    Bow teeny
    Curly Q ghost
    Ghost
    Bow teeny
    Curly Q zombie
    Zombie

I think vampire Maria is my favorite! So try it out, there are so many more options and ways to customize!!
    Bow teeny
And speaking of spookiness, Cole and I have decided what we're going as for Halloween...

    Pretty awesome, huh.

    Wow.
Flattered big time I was to be asked a few questions
earlier in the year for fashion hub CHECKYOUdaily's Icon section.
    What a gargantuan compliment!
I spy Toni Maticevski in their list - yowza.

If you're interested in reading my little Q&A it's just been put up
so pop over to CHECKYOUdaily by clicking here.
There's also a little slideshow of my favourite things.
(DK's butt is not one of them - Haha. Her Atelier Versace dress is though!)

    Xx

    P.S Love this:
"Uses contemporary supermodels as paper dolls of her own design
and redresses them in a remix of designer collections."
I hadn't thought of it like that before - how fun! :)

P.P.S I'm watching Dumbo right now for research purposes
    (I LOVE MY JOB SERIOUSLY!)
and I can't not cry at the 'Baby of Mine' scene.
Does anyone else have that problem?
    Should I even admit that?

    HAPPY FRIDAY! x

polaroid for MY PAIN

    Polaroids by Andrew Kuykendall

Sorry for the lack of updates.
I went away for my little Bridget Jones' mini-break
and ended up stuck in the snow for 3 days
    (which was BEAUTIFUL!!)
but I was totally unprepared for snow clothing wise
and have wound up with a cold.
I think i've sneezed approx. 873 times this week!!

So i'm trying hard to get back into work,
and have lots of things to share with you
    over the coming months! Fun!

Hope you've all had a great week.
    xx

this is a STICK UP!

    Gimme all your clothes Diane!
    No....seriously.
    I want them.
    Especially your lambskin Chanel.

I'm a big supporter of 'love the skin you're in'
but if we DID get to go shopping for our looks
this is what i'd buy. Hands down.
Let me look like Diane just for one day.

Who would you choose to look like for a day?
    x

    UPDATE:
Flicking through last week's Grazia and came across this
dress by Life With Bird. Reminds me of Kruger's!
Get into my life now please!

barbie you're BEAUTIFUL

A few weeks ago I went to the Forever Barbie exhibition with my friend Alison.
(When I was little I was the ULTIMATE Barbie girl.
I used to make clothes for her and buy her only the very best boyfriends.)
So we went to the exhibition and I don't know what happened
but looking at all of the vintage Barbie dolls and outfits
ignited some long lost passion between Barbie and I.

I've ordered a special vintage reproduction of the debut Barbie from 1959.
I can't wait for her to arrive. She'll just hang out with me at my desk.
She'll be a minature 'life model'.
    Well....that's my excuse anyway ;)

    Enjoy the vids below!
    Vogue Australia's Forever Barbie coverage
    & highlights from
    Mercedes Benz NY Fashion Week's
    Barbie's 50th Anniversary Show.

diane goes to PARIS

    Photographs by Marianne Rosenstiehl

This is exactly what I want to be doing right now.
I'm cold too - so why can't I put on my best coat
and scarfe and wander through the streets of Paris?
Would make the weather slightly less depressing!

This WOULD be me in November had my plans
not changed - instead i'll be singing
'I love Paris in the Springtime!'
    in early May! Weeeeeeeeeeeee........

Hope those of you enjoying this frosty Winter
    weather are sufficiently rugged up!
(It got to -1 at my house the other night! Brrr)
